Young Leadership Council
Are you a young professional looking to become involved in a non-profit organization? Consider joining our Young Leadership Council!
Our member organizations are always in need of dedicated volunteers and interns to provide support to their small staffs. With our range of programs there is surely an opportunity for every caring New Yorker. See below for some recent volunteer and internship listings.
Volunteer
- Tutors (especially high school math and science tutors)
- Career Day Hosts: Host a group of middle school students at your place of work and talk about what it takes to be successful in your industry
- Young Professionals Committee: Join this group of New York Professionals in their 20s-40s and help plan and organize fundraising and friendraising events.
Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) is seeking a Community Organizing Intern to participating in our grassroots organizing work during the 2011-2012 school year. We are willing to work with an intern to shape the experience in order to meet her/his personal learning goals. Internships are unpaid, but may be used for academic credit. Opening Act has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one time to recurring to dream projects, including:
- Interview a student/write a case study
- Enter data from student evaluations
- Design and create invitations to student shows
- Serve on an Opening Act Benefit’s Social or Steering Committee
- Volunteer at student shows
- Host an Opening Act introductory cocktail party for your circle of friends

The Resilience Advocacy Project seeks youth advocates (trained law students and social work graduate students) to provide comprehensive legal rights education, social service referrals, and concrete advocacy assistance for youth on a wide range of civil and legal issues that impact their lives. They are also looking for volunteers for legal policy and research projects. Volunteers will help with grassroots community-based research in targeted communities, as well as with legal and policy research for hearing testimony, policy briefs, and legal memorandum on child and youth law issues.
